I receive a bootsect.exe error when trying to burn an ISO file

If you receive a bootsect.exe error message, this is caused by the bootsect.exe file being missing on a 32bit installation of Windows, when trying to burn a 64-bit ISO image.

How do I boot from a USB/DVD to install Windows?

To boot from a USB/DVD, make sure that the device has boot sequence priority over the hard drive in your BIOS Setting.

  • Start the computer and press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the initial startup screen. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, a menu may appear.
  • Choose to enter BIOS setup. The BIOS setup utility page appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab. System devices appear in order of priority.
  • To give a USB/DVD drive boot sequence priority over the hard drive, move it to the first position in the list.
  • Save and exit the BIOS setup utility.
  • The computer will restart with the changed settings and start with installation of your USB/DVD.

Online activation of my Office installation failed, how can I activate Office?

If you receive the message that you have reached the maximum number of activations and you cannot activate over the internet, Microsoft requiers in some cases to activate your office by telephone. Please follow the instructions below to activate your office by telephone:

  • When the message “maximum number of activations reached” pops up, please click on “back” and choose “telephone activation”” instead of activation over the internet.
  • After you have chosen telephone activation you are asked to call the toll free Microsoft numer and to complete 3 simple steps.
  • After you called the toll free number and you provided the telephone robot with the correct installation ID, showing at your activation screen, you will receive in return a conformation id. Please enter the conformation id in your activation screen to activate your office.

Can I upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version?

Can I force Windows 7/8 to Upgrade to Windows 10?

Yes, you can.

You can check your Windows version by right clicking on My Computer or This PC in File Explorer and going to properties, and it will be listed under system type.

 

Run the tool and then select the upgrade your PC option. Windows 10 will start downloading, and once it’s ready you’ll be presented with three options: keep personal files and apps, keep personal files only, and nothing. Select the first option (keep personal files and apps) to ensure your PC upgrades and you keep your files and applications. Windows 10 will start installing and after a few reboots and customizations you’ll be upgraded. If you install Windows 10 and decide you want to go back to Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 then you can safely restore by going to settings > update & security > and choose the option to go back to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

What’s the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows?

32-bit and 64-bit refers to the way a computer’s central processor (essentially, its brain) handles information and the software that can run on that type of computer.
